Program Information
The University of North Alabama’s College of Education is nationally accredited and recognized as one of the truly outstanding teacher preparation programs in the southeast United States. The faculty of the College of Education are an outstanding team of professionals who care about students, are involved with the latest developments in the teaching arena and work diligently to guarantee that every graduate is highly qualified and highly sought after for employment.

The College of Education has a rich tradition of excellence dating to the 1870’s when it was restructured as the south’s first coeducational teacher’s college. Graduates from the UNA College of Education have a record of outstanding achievement in the classroom and many have moved into a variety of leadership roles in public, private and higher education.

Students can expect a level of instruction that is typified by high expectations but also with a personal attention by professors that truly make a difference. All programs are aligned with state certification requirements and necessary examinations.

The Departments of Human Environmental Sciences and Health, Physical Education and Recreation offer a variety of exciting and valuable programs to students. New and innovative courses in these programs are linked to great employment opportunities.

The Kilby Laboratory School is the only university-affiliated model school in the state and provides students an incredible opportunity for continuous engagement with a school on campus that is a “best practice” daily reference.

The UNA College of Education is also host of the Education Research and Inservice Center, providing cutting edge professional development for area school systems, as well as current UNA students.

A variety of master’s degree programs are available and numerous new programs are currently being reviewed for possible implementation, including on-line programs.

We would love to have you become part of the exciting and dynamic family of learners and leaders in The University of North Alabama’s College of Education.
