The programs of graduate studies are offered by the University of North Alabama through its colleges of arts & sciences, business, and education under the direction of the deans of the colleges and the overall administration, coordination, and supervision of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, according to policies, procedures, and programs established by the Graduate Council and approved by the President and the Board of Trustees. The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and School to award bachelor's, master's and education specialist degrees. The University holds specialized accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Council on Social Work Education (Baccalaureate), the National League for Nursing, the National Association of Schools of Music, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs. Nursing The Master of Science in Nursing online program at the University of North Alabama is a post-baccalaureate degree program consisting of two tracks: “Nursing in Teaching-Learning Environments” and “Nursing Leadership in Organizational Environments.” The program is completely online in an asynchronous format. The “Teaching-Learning” track will equip registered nurses with tools that will enable them to facilitate the education of nursing students, health care clients, and health care colleagues. The graduate will be qualified to serve as a faculty member in an institution of higher learning and serve as an educator in the clinical environment. The program will allow students to select a clinical area of interest (adult health, women’s health, pediatrics, etc.) upon which to focus during his/her matriculation. The “Leadership” track will prepare registered nurses who will function at an advanced level in the health care environment regarding politics and legislation, budgeting and economics, and leadership and management, such that these nurses may positively impact the management aspects of nursing and health care in society.
