Chiong-Yiao Chen is a native of Taiwan; she received her undergraduate education from the National Taiwan Normal University and her Master of Fine Arts degree from SUNY Albany concentrating in printmaking. She works with a variety of media ranging from chalk and pastel drawing to relief, intaglio and lithography. Her work experience prior to teaching included a stint as an assistant to Master Printer Robert Blackburn where she worked on lithography projects by nationally acclaimed artists such as Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett.
Professor Chen has participated in over seventy exhibitions regionally and nationally and conducted numerous presentations and workshops in conferences, museums and not-for-profit venues throughout the southeastern United States. Her work is housed in museums and University archives including Huntsville Museum of Art.
