Public Communication
These are the required classes for the Public Communication emphasis:
Students should take COM 210 Business and Professional Speech instead of COM 201 in Communication Arts core.
COM 306 Interpersonal Communication (3 hours)
COM 308 Nonverbal Communication (3 hours)
COM 402 Persuasion (3 hours)
Choose either:
COM 320 Political Communication
COM 350 Argumentation & Debate
Choose either:
COM 330 Group Communication (3 hours)
COM 440 Organizational Communication (3 hours)
Choose at least two additional three-credit COM electives from among 300/400-level department offerings.
Total: 21 hours
All students in this area will earn a degree in Communication Arts with Public Communication as the student's primary area of study.
A minor is not required, but students are encouraged to select a minor to support their major course of study. Talk with you advisor or the department chair for more explanation.
