WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

The University of North Alabama offers two types of wireless access: LionAir & LionAirEncrypted. It is available on campus 24/7 and is free for all students and employees.Look below for a list of locations for wireless connectivity.

Once you have moved into an area that broadcasts our wireless connection, most users will be prompted to join the wireless network. The names (SSIDs) of the wireless networks on campus are "LionAir & LionAirEncrypted".

The "LionAir" wireless network processes your information as clear text and anyone that wanted to "eavesdrop" could. Your information is not encrypted which makes it unsecure. To connect, make sure you are not connected to "LionAirEncrypted", then select "LionAir" and click connect.

The "LionAirEncrypted" wireless network processes your information encrypted which makes it secure. To connect, make sure you are not connected to "LionAir", then select "LionAirEncrypted" and click connect. The Network/Encryption Key is LionAirEncrypted (case sensitive).

The University of North Alabama wireless network is equipped to work with the latest Internet browsers (IE, Firefox, etc.). Computer Services recommends everyone use Windows to manage their wireless connections.

After a browser has been opened, you should be directed to a UNA/BlueSocket login page. Here, you are able to login to the BlueSocket using your current UNAPORTAL username and password. Enter you UNAPORTAL username and password in the left column under Registered Users and click login

After your successful authentication, a small window, with a logout icon, will appear in the bottom right corner. Once you see the logout window, you are connected to the wireless network. This window must stay open as you use the network, you may minimize it. You MUST allow popups from the address wireless.una.edu to allow the logout window to appear.

When you are finished, click the "Logout" link in the small BlueSocket window
