Bad attitudes can threaten the important activities in your workplace or
at home. They can spread like viruses throughout the organization, from person
to person to departments and so on.
Participants will learn how to take responsibility for their own
attitude and will learn several techniques to identify and treat bad attitudes
before they get out of control.
Building Effective Teams – Concepts and Applications (Parts I and II)
The
importance of teams in the workplace cannot be overstated yet a large
percentage of workers do not understand the basics of building an effective
team. Participants will be exposed to
the value of appreciating the talents and skills that others bring to team
environment. The ability to function as
a team is emphasized in this program.
Part I will emphasize personality profiles and team selection techniques
and Part II will focus on how a team interacts and performs.

Understanding Your Role as a
Supervisor
Many
workplace frustrations flow from misunderstandings between supervisors and
managers about what the supervisor’s specific role in the organization is. If we want our supervisors to succeed in the
organization, we must communicate our expectations in a clear manner. In this session, you will learn what the
organization expects from you and how your role fits into the organization.
The Value of Learning to Welcome and Accept Change
The concept
of change is not new; just the speed in which change is occurring in today’s
workplace has caught many workers unprepared.
This program is designed to encourage individuals to view change as a
challenge and opportunity as opposed to an obstacle and threat. Change will continue to occur at an increasing
rate, we need to learn to accept that fact and develop strategies to take advantage of the opportunities that change
creates.
Facilitation Techniques for Improving Effectiveness
A facilitator is essentially a leader in that their mission is to
influence the behavior of other individuals toward a specific goal. The skills necessary for a facilitator to
possess include but are not limited to the following: communication skills (verbal, non-verbal),
active listening and feedback skills, team building skills, problem-solving
skills, decision making skills, and conflict resolution skills. The tools required to be an effective
facilitator will also be presented using a hands-on approach. These essential skills include brainstorming,
fish-bone diagrams, Pareto concepts, and voting (decision) techniques. This
session will focus on developing the above-mentioned skills and tools within a
team framework.
The Importance of Trust in Personal and Professional Relationships
The
importance of establishing, nurturing and sustaining trust in a
leadership/follower relationship is a critical component of successful and
effective leadership. The session will
focus on approaches to assist a leader in understanding the importance that
trust plays in all relationships that people have with each other.
Steps to Better Problem Solving and Decision-Making
A major
problem in today’s workplace is the inability of managers to make effective,
timely decisions. This program is
designed to enable managers to approach decision making in a systematic and
consistent manner utilizing tools and techniques which have proven to be
effective. These include brainstorming, fish-bone diagrams, Pareto concepts, and
voting (decision) techniques.
Conflict Resolution
Most people
agree that conflict is eventually inevitable; the key is how one handles the
conflict. Conflict is a part of everyday
life in the workplace. Participants will
learn about the various types and levels of conflict and also several proven
techniques to turn conflict into a positive interaction with others.
The Value of Ethical Behavior
The value of ethical behavior in the workplace is often overlooked in
today’s fast-paced “dog-eat-dog” environment.
Participants will learn to define the sometimes elusive concept of
business ethics and how ethics fit into the work environment. This seminar stresses the importance of
ethical behavior for both leaders and followers.
Giving and Receiving Feedback
Feedback is an indispensable part of our daily lives. Given properly, feedback can turn a
non-productive employee into an effective contributor. Taken well, feedback can increase an
individual’s opportunities for growth and development. This session will empower mangers and
supervisors by providing approaches to give and receive feedback
constructively.
Motivation Techniques That Work
There is no such thing as an unmotivated person, but there are
unmotivated people in the workplace. In
the current business environment, the competitive advantage goes to the
organization whose employees are both professionally and personally
motivated. This session focuses on the
personal enrichment of employees and attention is devoted to various motivation
techniques that are useful both inside and outside the work environment.
Dealing with Difficult People
The difficult people in any organization often hurt productivity, dampen
morale and impact quality. This seminar
explores strategies for getting results from hard-to-handle people, including
bosses and peers as well as employees.
Participants will learn techniques to deal with difficult people in a
confident, competent, non-combative manner.
Participants will also learn to recognize when they are the “difficult
people” and what to do in those situations.
Leadership Skills Development
The
challenges that face managers/leaders in the workplace of today can be
frightening if one is caught unprepared.
The adage “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”
has never been more true. Participants
will take a series of leadership assessments to ascertain what their leadership
skills are and then develop a plan to improve upon existing skills and add
others to their toolbox.
Communication and Human Behavior I & II
The success
of our supervisors is significantly tied to their ability to communicate with
team members. This course will provide supervisors
a greater understanding of the communication process, as well as the effects of
positive interactions in the workplace.
Emotional Intelligence (Parts I and II)
The
importance of understanding and using emotions can be an effective tool to help
oneself and others become a more effective and productive employee. The emerging field of Emotional Intelligence
(EI) is growing in popularity and acceptance among numerous major corporations
in the U.S.
In Part I,
participants will be given a step-by-step approach to understanding and
developing the emotional competencies in order to bring more creativity and
energy into their job performance.
In Part II, participants will be given an
emotional intelligence questionnaire and the facilitator will analyze and
discuss the various applications of EI. (includes

Situational Leadership Concepts and Applications (Part I and II)
The search for the “one best leadership style” is a long and winding
road. Most organizations now realize
that their “leaders” must be able to diagnosis the situation and utilize the
most effective leadership style for that specific situation. The situational leadership (SL) approach
mandates that leaders be able to distinguish between what is an ability problem
versus a motivation problem and proceed from that point. This session will expose the participants to
the importance of learning several leadership styles and to the fundamentals of
the situational leadership approach. In
Part I, the concept of SL will be discussed and in Part II, hands-on
application exercises will be the primary focus. (includes textbook)
Coaching for Top Performance (Parts I and II)
Workplace coaching can be defines as “working directly with an employee
to improve a specific job-related skill, behavior or the overall performance of
the employee.” This is accomplished
through a combination of teaching, motivating and challenging individuals to
take their performance to a higher level.
This seminar will assist ‘coaches’ by providing techniques to get the

Strategic Planning Facilitation – Concepts and Applications (Parts I and
II)
This
program will expose the participants to the importance of strategic planning
and take them through the steps in developing a plan from the vision statement
to the action plans. Part I of this
program will explain the terms and concepts of strategic planning and their
importance in the strategic planning process.
Part II will be an actual application of the planning process and the
facilitation techniques necessary to develop a successful strategic plan. (includes textbook)
Operations Management Concepts for Gaining Competitive Advantage
This session will give the participants a quick overview of
the major facets of production/operations management which can be applied to
both service and manufacturing organizations.
Topics will include an analysis of functions most commonly associated
with production and operations management.
These topics include master scheduling, quality management; aggregate
planning, supply chain management, materials requirements planning,
forecasting, production-activity control and project management.
Embracing Diversity in the Workplace
This
program will expose participants to the power of diversity with regard to
creative problem solving and teamwork in the work environment. The importance
that group dynamics and personal perceptions play in the acceptance and
appreciation of diversity is emphasized in this program.
