Q:        What is the audition process for Commercial Music majors?
A:         Currently there is no audition required for students majoring in Commercial Music.  Commercial Music majors are required to take a sophomore examination which includes proficiency in piano and performance on the student’s major applied instrument.

Q:        Is an internship required in any of the four DEI degrees?
A:         Yes.  All students majoring in Commercial Music, Entertainment Industry Management, Entertainment Media Production, or Entertainment Publicity Promotion are required to complete a three hour internship.  Potential interns must have completed all entertainment coursework and at least 100 semester hours toward the degree plus have departmental approval.

Q:        Are there scholarships available for DEI majors?
A:         The Chris Quillen Memorial Scholarship is given once a year to a senior who interns outside the Florence/Muscle Shoals area.

Q:        Do students have to declare a minor when majoring in any of the DEI degrees?
A:         The only degree that requires a minor is the Commercial Music degree.  Students may choose Business Administration supporting coursework, OR any of the six Communications minors (Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Public Communication, Public Relations, Radio-Television-Film, or Theatre).

Q:        Can a student minor in any of the DEI degrees?
A:         No.  The university does not offer a minor in Commercial Music, Entertainment Industry Management, Entertainment Publicity Promotion or Entertainment Media Production.
