People are oftentimes unsure about what the degree programs offered by the Department of Entertainment Industry actually are, what the student learns in the program, and what they can do after they graduate.

What can I do with this degree?

You love music. You listen to music non-stop and talk about it with your friends on a daily basis. You watch movies and want to be part of the action, on-screen or behind the screen.

You know you want an education that gets you connected with what you love. You want to be in a place where everyone else loves it too. Imagine a school where you can study songwriting, audio engineering, producing, and music business, as well as acting, music performance, or film and video studies.

The Department of Entertainment Industry is that place to connect with yourself, the industry, and your career in the entertainment business.

"What can I do with this degree?" This is the primary question we get from students, parents, and people thinking about earning their degree from the DEI.

The entertainment industry encompasses many different sub-industries, including music, film, and stage performance. Inside each of these smaller sub-industries are a variety of functions that are all interrelated: songwriter, engineer, session musician, producer, tour manager, and radio promoter are just a few of the job titles available in the music industry, as an example.

Below are some quick links to resources that will help you gain an understanding of what career paths are available in the entertainment industry. Not everything available is listed below, however. Your career in the entertainment industry is really only limited by your imagination and desire!

Record Company Operations

Record labels may be changing how they do business, but still take recordings made by artists, promote them and distribute them for consumers to purchase.

Artist Management & Touring

Artist managers guide the professional career of artists and are an integral part of the artist's team. Live shows have always been a great way for an artist to connect with fans and promote their music.

Recording Technology

Engineers and producers have had to become multi-talented individuals in the past few years. Today, one individual can perform, record, and mix their own record and then make a music video, design a web site, and sell their music online.

The Entrepreneurial Aspect

The music business has always rewarded those who take that leap and start their own company. The business is full of self-starting, self-employed people who are their own boss.
