Getting Started with UNA Portal
- What is my UNA Portal username?
Your username should be your first initial followed by your full last name. Where duplicates exist, an additional number is added to your last name.
Example: JDOE, JDOE1, JDOE2Your username is automatically created by the system and authenticates to other systems (Blackboard, Self-service banner), therefore, your username cannot be changed.
- What is my UNA Portal password?
Your original password will be your 6-digit birthday using format MMDDYY

If you are contacting through email:
Please provide your full name, UNA Mane Card ID# and Problem - How do I change my UNA Portal password?
If you want to change your password, do the following:
- Log onto the UNA Portal
- Click on "My Account" in upper left hand corner
- Key in current Password
- Key in new password
- Key in new password to confirm new password
- Click on Save Changes
If you don't know your password to logon, you can do the following:
- Look on the UNA portal logon page
- Click on "Forget your Password? Click Here"
- Key in your username
- Answer two of the four security questions correctly
- Click "Login"
- Key in new password
- Key in new password to confirm new password
Note: When setting a new password, you MUST follow the following PASSWORD REQUIREMENTS:
- The password LENGTH must be 8 or greater, but no more than 20
- The password MUST contain a LETTER
- The password MUST contain a DIGIT
- The password MUST contain at least one of these special characters:
- ~ (tilde operator)
- ! (exclamation point)
- ^ (caret)
- - (hypen)
- + (plus sign)
- ? (question mark)
- ] (right bracket)
- [ (left bracket)
- Any special characters not listed will not be accepted
- How long do I have an UNA Portal account?
From the time you are admitted until you graduate or leave UNA
and for a period of 18 months from your last active semester at UNA - What is my UNA e-Mail address?
Your email address is your username@una.edu
This applies to faculty, staff and students - What is my storage quota for my e-Mail account?
- 20mb for students
- 80mb for faculty/staff
- How many attachments may I send per e-Mail?
60(Sixty)
- Is there a maximum size per attachment sent?
Yes, the maximum size is equal to your current storage quota available
- May I use Outlook, Outlook Express or any IMAP client to read e-Mail?
Yes, look at the following for settings:
- Account type = IMAP
- Incoming mail server = mail.una.edu
- Outgoing mail server = the SMTP of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), if on campus: mail.una.edu
- Must set your incoming (IMAP) server to use an encrypted connection via port 993
- We do not allow POP access to mail
- Is there an address book to look up campus users' e-Mail addresses?
Yes, with the email window open, do the following on your UNA Portal email:- Click “Compose”
- Click on the word “To”
- Click in the box that has the words “Search for”
- Type in the name you are searching for
- Using the drop down menu after the word “in”, select “Corporate Directory”
- Click on “Search”
- Click on boxes in the left columns for either “To”, “Cc:” or “Bcc:”
- Click “Add Recipients”
- When is the UNA Portal system
scheduled to be down?
The UNA Portal system is shutdown DAILY from 4:00am to 6:00am for routine maintenance
- Who may request (send) a Campus Announcement?
Any UNA Portal account holder, who is:
- Faculty
- Staff
- an officer of an organization recognized by the Student Life Office
The requested announcement MUST pertain to University activities
This service is NOT used for classified notices such as buying, selling, renting or looking for products or services

- How do I pay my bill on-line?
- Log into the UNA Portal system
- Click on the “Self-service Banner” tab
- Click on the “Student” tab
- Click on “Student Accounts”
- Click on “Account Information”
- Click on the “eBills” tab under Quick View
