- Clear your JAVA cache
To clear you JAVA cache, do the following:
- Click "Start"
- Click "Control Panel"
- Double click the "JAVA" Icon
- Click the "Settings" button under the "Temporary Internet Files" box
- Click the "Delete Files" button and click "OK" to confirm
- Click "OK" again to close teh JAVA control panel
- Clear your browser's cache:
To clear your browser's cache, do one of the following:
Don’t know your version of Internet Explorer? Click on “Help” and “About Internet Explorer” on your browser.
- Strongly suggest upgrading to Internet Explorer 7
- Start IE6
- Click on “Tools” then “Internet Options”
- Click on “Delete files” and check box for “Delete all offline content”
- Click “OK”
- Click “Delete Cookies”
- Start IE7
- Click on “Tools” then “Internet Options”
- Click on “Delete” under Browsing History
- Click on “Delete All”
- Check box for “Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons”

- Click on “Delete” under Browsing History
- Place a check in all boxes from "Temporary" to "InPrivate"
- Click on "Delete"
- Start Firefox
- Click on “Tools” then “Clear Private Data”
- Select all the check boxes
- Click “Clear Private Data”
- Close and reopen your browser
- Start Firefox
- Click on “Tools” then “Clear Recent History”
- Change "Time range to clear" to "Everything"
- Click on pulldown arrow beside "Details"
- Check all boxes
- Click on "Clear Now" li>
- Close and reopen your browser
- Click Safari on the Menu
- Click "Empty Cache"
- Click "Empty"
- Close and reopen your browser

- UNA Portal is not supported on IE8, but the following settings may be applied to allow UNA Portal to work - not guaranteed
- Click on "Tools" then "Compatibility View Settings"
- Type in "una.edu" in box under "Add this website:"

- With Internet explorer open, click on “Tools”
- Click on “Internet Options”
- Click on the “Security” tab
- Click on “Trusted Sites” (green checkmark)

- Un-check the box “Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone

- Sometimes Internet Explorer will not work for reasons we do not know. Download the latest version of Firefox from www.mozilla.com (This is a popular browser that works great with our system.)

There are several different versions of these blockers and therefore, we cannot tell you how to configure each one. If you must use a pop-up blocker then add each of the following sites to disable the pop-up function.

There are several different types of personal firewalls. Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security Center and Zone Alarm being the most popular. The following is a list of IP addresses that need to be added to the trusted sites in your firewall settings.
You may not have control of firewalls at your workplace and in most cases certain applications will not work. You may ask your IT staff to allow the following IP addresses through your company’s network.

CCleaner Installation
- - Click on "Download latest version"
- - Download should start automatically
- - Click "Run" when asked to save this file?
- - Click "Run" when asked to run this software?
- - Accept defaults until you reach "Install Options"
- - Uncheck "Add CCleaner Yahoo! Toolbar..."
- - Click "Install" and "Finish"
How to use CCleaner
- - Click "Run Cleaner" at least 2-3 times
- - When cleaner is finished, click on "Registry" and "Scan for Issues"
- - After scan and problems are found, click "Fix selected issues..."
- - Click "Yes" to backup changes to registry and accept default name and location
- - Click "Fix All Selected Issues"
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Installation
- - Click on "Download latest version"
- - Download should start automatically
- - Click "Run" when asked to save this file?
- - Click "Run" when asked to run this software?
- - Accept defaults and click "Finish"
How to use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- - Run updates manually: click on “Update” tab and click on “Check for update”
- - Click “Perform quick scan” under the “Scanner” tab
- - If objects infected are found (red number), click on “Show Results” and “Remove”
- - This is a free version of the application and this has to be manually.
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition Installation
- - Click on "Download latest version"
- - Download should start automatically
- - Click "Run" when asked to save this file?
- - Click "Run" when asked to run this software?
- - Accept defaults with exception of “AVG Security Toolbar”
- - Uncheck “Install AVG Security Toolbar” and “Make Yahoo my default search…”
- - Do NOT install the “AVG Security Toolbar”
- - Uncheck “I agree to provide anonymous…” and click “Finish”
How to use AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
- - Click “Tools” and “Advanced Settings”
- - Click “Schedules”
- - Click “Scheduled scan”
- - Click “Enable this task” and set a schedule to run
- - Click “Virus database update schedule” under “Schedules”
- - Click “Enable this task” and set a schedule to run
- - Click “Program update schedule” under “Schedules”
- - Click “Enable this task” and set a schedule to run
- - AVG will run automatically to protect your computer.
- - To do a scan now: Click on “Computer scanner” and click “Scan whole computer”
If you have IE9 installed and aren’t happy with it or have proprietary software in the office that doesn’t work with it yet, reverting back to IE8 is a simple process.
