Annual Phi Sigma Iota Initiation Ceremony Recognizes Outstanding Students in Foreign Languages
A tradition of academic excellence in foreign language study was celebrated again this year with the induction of new Phi Sigma Iota members in April. The ceremony took place in Wesleyan Hall, and featured Dr. Evan Ward, assistant professor of Latin American History as guest speaker. Phi Sigma Iota is a prestigious, nationally-recognized honors organization which invites an exclusive group of Juniors and Seniors to join its ranks every year. Students must be majors or minors in a foreign language, and they must have achieved a cumulative 3.5 grade point average in that language. This year's initiates were Taeko Abe, Rebekah Argo, Sarah Campbell, Julianne Johnson, Valerie Jones, and Lauren Schifano.
