Commercial Music
The commercial music major at UNA. It’s one of the oldest music-industry programs in the country. It’s helped create leading music publishers, engineers and executives. It’s graduated top performers, record producers and hit songwriters.
Now, through the new Commercial Music Endowed Scholarship, it can open even more music-industry doors for students who, without it, may not have the opportunity for a college education.
All proceeds from the auction of these two custom UNA guitars will support the Commercial Music Endowed Scholarship and the Brian Vick/Jonathan Parks/Michael McCarthy Scholarship.
DHR Music & Dillon Hodges
On a December trip to Benedetto Guitars in Savannah, Ga., Hodges is shown around the custom shop by, from left, Cindy Benedetto, Bob Benedetto, J.Lee Rabiner, Dale Rabiner and Howard Paul. Bob Benedetto is the founder of Benedetto Guitars, Inc., the world’s foremost maker of hand-carved archtop jazz guitars. J. Lee and Dale Rabiner are owners of DHR Music Experience and Paul is the president and CEO of Benedetto Guitars.
DHR Music signed 18-year-old UNA sophomore Dillon Hodges of Florence, Ala., as the company’s national spokesman.
“We cannot think of a better person to be our spokesman than Dillon Hodges,” said Dale Rabiner, president and CEO of DHR.
"First of all, he truly is a guitar phenom,” said Rabiner. “In addition, he seeks to excel at all that he does and believes in giving back through community service and teaching the younger generation of upcoming guitarists. Last but not least, he is left-handed.
"We are astounded at the great accomplishments he has already achieved at the age of 18 and expect them to only multiply.”
In his first six months representing DHR, Hodges has appeared at the South Carolina Guitar Show, the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and the Dallas International Guitar Festival, which is the World’s oldest and largest guitar show.
Hodges now exclusively endorses DHR’s lineup of Breedlove, Benedetto, Collings and Hamer guitars.
In support of Hodges as a Benedetto artist, the company has created two unique, custom-made LION GUITARS that will be auctioned, with all proceeds benefitting the UNA Commercial Music Endowed Scholarship.
