Young Democrats Club
The Young Democrats became an officially recognized club at the University of North Alabama in 1997. There had been an unofficial club in existence for several years, however. In recent years students with an interest in the Democratic Party have engaged in such activities as watching and discussing the 1996 U.S. Presidential debate and enjoying campaign parties sponsored by the Political Science Club.
Some members of the Young Democrats are currently working on Alabama gubernatorial candidate Don Siegelman's campaign as well as those of U.S. Congressional candidates.
Club members usually meet once a month, and this past year some of them traveled to Gulf Shores to attend the Young Democrats's State Convention. Anyone with an interest in the Democratic Party is invited to join.
