residence hall applications
Application Process:
In order to apply for Housing, individuals must already be accepted to the University.
- Contact the Department of Housing [(256)-765-4124 or housing@una.edu] for an application packet.
- Please fill out documents completely. Uncompleted applications cannot be processed.
- Be sure to include the $100 application fee.
- Note: Applications with specific room preferences should be received as quickly as possible to better assess space availability.
- Mail contract, application, and application fee to:

Application Tips:
- The application, contract, and application fee are all required for housing.
- Be sure to complete application in its entirety on both sides.
- Fill out all information including personal information and preferences.
- A completed application will aid in making suitable roommate assignments.
- An academic year includes fall and spring semesters (August-May).
- Applications for Hawthorne, Covington, Appleby East, and Appleby West must be 12-month housing contracts.
- Any change to the application must be requested in writing and signed by the student (if student is 18 years or older). Please include your social security number.
(Rice, Rivers, LaGrange, Lafayette)
Applicants for double-as-single occupancy rooms must meet requirements for special needs through Health & Wellness Services. Recommendations will then be made to the Director of Housing for justifiable single assignment.
Roommate Preference:
- Mutual roommates should apply at same time. Triple and triple-as-double occupancy rooms in Rice and Rivers require mutual roommate requests.
Payment of Rent:
- Room rent is due and payable on the same date as tuition and other University fees.
- 10% Off!!! If you are assigned to live in the cluster-style residence halls - Hawthorne, Covington, Appleby East, or Appleby West - then you can receive a discount of 10% off your total room rent bill. Simply pre-pay the entire amount when paying tuition bill for fall and receive 10% off your total room charges for fall, spring, and summer. The discount will be rebated after the start of the summer session.
