HEALTH PROMOTION CONCENTRATION

“The process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health; a commitment to dealing with the challenges of reducing inequities, extending the scope of prevention, and helping people to cope with their circumstances; creating environments conducive to health, in which people are better able to take care of themselves” (World Health Organization).
Health Promotion at UNA
By majoring in Physical Education with a concentration in Health Promotion with the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at the University of North Alabama, students will be prepared to assist people, in a variety of settings, to achieve a state of health and wellness in accordance with the environment in which they live. Skills will be developed to deal with educational, social, economic, and political issues to improve the health of the population.
