A Message from the Program Director

Dwight Bunn - Associate Professor of Interior Design, Program Coordinator of Interior Design Dwight Bunn
Program Director, Interior Design Program,
The University of North Alabama

This past year has been an exciting one for the Interior Design Program at The University of North Alabama. We were excited about welcoming to our design faculty Mr. Dhrumil Patel, Assistant Professor of Interior Design. He is teaching a variety of design studios including lighting and advanced CAD design.

We have undergone a curriculum development revision in which added several advanced studios, strengthen our sequence of courses, and overall improved the quality of the design program. We have recently received accreditation of the Interior Design Program by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and re-accreditation by the National Kitchen and Bath Program (NKBA).

Renovations in the department lead to a new Drafting/Drawing Studio with new equipment including drafting tables, project equipment storage bins, presentation pin-up boards, multi-media equipment, smart board technology, and wireless internet hub for student lab top use. Our Computer Design Studio has been updated to 17” Apple computers with current versions of AutoCad, 20/20 Kitchen and Bath software, and Sketch-up Version 7 installed on all twenty laboratory computers. A new 42” photo quality plotter was also added insuring our computer equipment to at current industry standards.

The faculty, students and staff in the Department of Human Environmental Sciences are excited about our program growth, state-of-the-art equipment and computer software. We welcome you to becoming a part of our growing and dynamic department.
