Ms. Kathy Wallace

I was born and grew up in Fountain, a small town in eastern North Carolina.  As a little girl, I worked in my dad’s grocery store and on the farm.  My mother and two brothers still live in North Carolina.  My sister lives in Bellingham, Washington.  I attended East Carolina University and received my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I taught fifth grade for five and a half years in North Carolina.  After marriage, I moved to Laramie, Wyoming; Auburn, Alabama; Laurel, Mississippi; Starkville, Mississippi; Champaign, Illinois; and then Florence, Alabama.

Since moving to Florence, in 1988, I have taught third and second grade at Kilby Laboratory School.  Kilby is a wonderful place to work.  I enjoy working with my precious second grade Kilby Kids and getting to know all of the wonderful Kilby parents.  It is also a joy to work with the University of North Alabama professors, university students, and my student interns.

I have one very remarkable son, who attended Kilby School, Forest Hills School, Bradshaw High School, Auburn University, Temple University, and The University of Alabama.  He is now manager of a bank and is involved in many leadership roles in the Huntsville area.

I love spending time with my family and friends.  I also enjoy doing yard work and playing with my schnauzer.
