Collier Library - General Information
Collier Library is the main library for the University of North Alabama and is located on the northeast side of Bibb Graves Hall on the university campus (see map). Collier Library provides materials and services in support of the teaching, research, and public services commitments of the university community.
HOURS
The Library is open seven days a week during most of the year. The current semester schedule is listed on the Library Hours Page of this web site.

UNACAT
UNACAT is the online catalog for UNA's libraries. This automated catalog provides access to library materials by author, title, and subject and also provides keyword access.
SERVICES
Collier Library provides a variety of services to support the teaching and research needs of the university community.

Reserves
Material placed on reserve by instructors is located at the Circulation Desk. Loan periods will vary. Fines for reserves are substantially higher than for stack books.

Interlibrary Loan
To borrow books or obtain copies of articles from other libraries if material is unavailable locally, fill out an Interlibrary Loan form.

Computer Laboratory
A computer laboratory located on the main floor adjacent to the Reference area is open to students. Click here for Hours and Equipment/Software information.

Reference
A member of the reference faculty is available to answer or refer questions and to provide assistance. Reference help is provided by e-mail, telephone (765-4469) or in person.

The reference collection provides encyclopedias, dictionaries and other sources to assist in researching a variety of topics.
COLLECTIONS
Collier Library has holdings in excess of 390,000 volumes. In addition to the main book collection, the Library provides access to the collections described below. Books are arranged by the Library of Congress classification system: A-M are shelved on the Second Floor; N-Z are shelved on the Third Floor.

Periodicals
Magazines: The library provides access to more than 2000 magazines in various formats. Print journals are arranged in alphabetical order on the shelves. Current issues of popular titles are displayed in the Current Periodicals Reading Area on the First Floor.
Newspapers: Selected newspapers are received by the library and are available on the First Floor and the Ground Floor.
Microforms: Many periodicals, books, newspapers and research reports are received on microfilm or microfiche and are housed on the Ground Floor with microfilm/fiche readers and printers.

Audiovisual Materials
The Library provides DVDs and videocassettes. These are located on the First Floor. Audiocassettes, compact discs, multimedia kits and CD-ROMs covering a wide range of subjects are available at the Circulation Desk on the Ground Floor.

U.S. Government Publications
Collier Library is a selective depository for federal publications. These documents are accessed through UNACAT and links to government websites provided by the library's website.

Maps
Collier's map collection, located on the First Floor, includes topographical, political, and thematic maps of the U.S. and the world. The library is selective depository for maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Defense Mapping Agency.

Alabama Collection
Located in the Alabama Room on the Basement Floor, the Alabama Collection contains materials related to the State of Alabama. Some of the books must be used in the building; others may be checked out.

Archives and Special Collection
The Archive consists of collections focusing on local and University historical materials. These resources are housed on the Second Floor and must be used there. Materials denoted "Special Collections" in UNACAT are also housed in this area.
