ILL Methods Accepted by ANO:
We prefer to receive requests through OCLC, but will accept ALA forms by fax or mail. We supply books and articles to U.S. libraries. Additionally, journal articles may be sent electronically to non-U.S. libraries who participate in OCLC's IFM system.
Our ILL office is generally staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time). The only scheduled extended holiday closing is December 15 - January 7. If other closings longer than a day or two are anticipated we will appear as a "nonsupplier" in OCLC.
Preferred Billing Method:
We prefer to use IFM through OCLC, but we will send an invoice to U.S. libraries with the shipped material when necessary.
Loan Period for Books:
4 weeks from the date of shipment
We will renew one time for two additional weeks from the original due date, if there are no local holds on the item.
Charge for Loan of Books:
We do not charge for book loans.
Charge for Lost Books:
$50.00 or cost of book, whichever is higher.
We do not loan the following materials through Interlibrary Loan: reference materials, hard copy periodicals, microforms, audiovisual materials, musical scores, software and computer disks, new books still in processing, items located in branch libraries (Kilby, Learning Resources Center, Music Library), or items located in the Archives.
We do not charge NAAL (Network of Alabama Academic Libraries) or SO6 members, Alabama public libraries, or other reciprocal borrowing partners for periodical articles. For all others we charge $5.00 for up to 30 pages. Charges are the same for copies made from microfilm/fiche.
No limit on size and number of fax articles to NAAL members. Faxes of up to 20 pages are available to out-of-state borrowers for RUSH requests only.
Materials are generally supplied via ARIEL to U.S. libraries only. Exceptions may be made for non-U.S. libraries that participate in IFM via OCLC.
We do not charge extra for RUSH requests. However, we ask that you call to make sure our staff can handle your request in a timely fashion.
