What happens during Homecoming Week?
Homecoming
is the most anticipated event of the year for students and
alumni. Homecoming Week traditionally consists of Spirit Competition
between student organizations, campus entertainment, alumni
reunion activities, Homecoming King and Queen Court election,
and the most highly-anticipated football game of the year.
The Homecoming Spirit Competition begins on Monday and lasts throughout the week. Spirit Competition activities include painting Guillot University Center windows with colorful scenes, the annual “Step Show,” building floats for the Homecoming Parade and a pep rally to get the team ready to play. Alumni Relations sponsors several reunions and activities for alumni to enjoy.
Along
with the Spirit Competition, entertainment for homecoming
is sponsored by the University Program Council, and has included
live music & enteratainment, inflatable games and quiz
shows.
The Homecoming game is the culmination of the weeklong celebration. Alumni, fans, faculty and students pack the stands. The student section, with fans wearing everything from shirt and tie to shorts and paint, is usually standing room only.
