UNA alumnus Lawrence Sullivan “Sul” Ross becomes governor of Texas, an office he served until 1891. He had previously served as a Texas Ranger, a soldier and a Texas State Senator. After his four years as governor,he served as president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, now Texas A&M University.
