The Lion football team wins its third straight national title with a 27-7 win over Pittsburg State University. The victory marked the first time in NCAA scholarship football (Division I, I-AA or II) that a school had won three consecutive national championships. With UNA’s 41-1 record over that three-year period, it also marked the first time in the history of college football that a team on any level had won 40 or more games in only three seasons.
