The North Alabama Law Enforcement Training Center is changing our name. We will soon be known as the University of North Alabama Public Safety Institute. We will be serving all emergency service personnel and management. We will host a 40 hour Advanced Crime Scene Investigation Course on March 22-26, 2010 Class will begin at 8:00 AM. Cost of the course is $295.00 per participant. Refreshments will be served. The course has been approved for 40 hours of CEUs. This course is part of the Crime Scene Investigation Certification Program. Information for this Certification can be found at http://www.una.edu/naletc/training/Crime%20scene%20investigation%20certification.htm ******ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED A BASIC CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION COURSE WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS TO ATTEND THIS COURSE********* ADVANCED CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION: AN INTENSIVE FIVE DAY SEMINAR This comprehensive 40 - hour workshop will provide the participants training and assistance in advance crime scene techniques. This course was developed for Detectives to advance their skills in the examination of major crime scene investigations. The latest research and application of new crime scene techniques will be the topics for discussion. The course includes an overview of how to approach and examine major crime scenes, along with hands on training and the opportunity to present the physical evidence recovered in mock scenes and courtroom settings. All advanced instructional techniques will be illustrated with actual case scenarios. Course topics include: The techniques include advance case management, Safety and Advance crime scene equipment for your tool box, Dust track evidence recovery, Tool and Bite mark recovery, Alternate light source applications for body fluids and other crime scene materials, Alternate light source for shoe wear recovery, BLUESTAR FORENSIC blood detection reagent for latent blood, OBTI species testing for field use, Casting of shoe track/tire track evidence, Taking known “standards” of tire impressions, DNA surface latent swabbing, Chemical latent print blood enhancement techniques, Gunshot residue applications, Detection and documentation of blood on clothing with a digital camera and filters, Trajectory applications , Report writing, Mock Crime Scenes, and Expert witness testimony. The 40 hours of training can be applied toward the International Association for Identification Crime Scene Certification application. What to bring to the course: Very casual attire and a digital camera with macro capabilities are preferred; however, 35mm camera may be used.
