Handheld Chemical Sprays Instructor  (09-2)

 

   The North Alabama Law Enforcement Training Center will host the Handheld Chemical Sprays Instructor Course on October 28, 2009. The course has been approved for 8 hours of CEUs.

 

   The cost of the course is $80.00 per participant. Tuition will cover hand-outs, CDs, and refreshments. Each

 

 Registration can be made online at www.una.edu/naletc. Class size is limited to 10 participants.

 

****A One Week Cancellation notice must be given for the above class, or the participant and/or department will be charged the full amount****. 

 

   This course will cover the majority of the O.C., CS and CN products available on the market today. This course is NOT product specific. This course will not restrict you to one manufacturer’s product.

 

   This course will prepare the perspective instructor to teach other officers the proper, effective, legal use of O.C., CS, and CN spray in a self-defense or subject control situation.

 

Subjects that will be covered in this course include:

·        Introduction to O.C., CS and CN sprays

·        Comparisons of different types of O.C., CS, CN products on the market

·        Use of O.C., CS and CN sprays in confrontational situations

·        Physical effects of and decontamination procedures for O.C., CS and CN sprays

·        O.C., CS, CN sprays, department policies and the force continuum

·        Legal aspects of the use of O.C., CS, CN sprays

·        Overcoming accidental exposure

 

To successfully complete this course, each participant must:

1.      Pass a written test with 80% or better

2.      Be exposed to a chemical spray during practical exercises.

3.      Each participant will present a 2 minute lecture. 

 

Each student should bring the following:

Comfortable clothing with extra shirt

Soft soled shoes

Note taking material

Handcuffs

Towel
