UNA OFFERS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP LED BY NATIONALLY-ACCLAIMED LEADERSHIP EXPERT

FLORENCE, Ala. — The Office of Continuing Studies and Outreach at the University of North Alabama announces registration for What Great Managers Do Differently, a course that will take place Feb. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marriott Shoals Hotel, Spa and Conference Center.
The program will be led by Mark Murphy, chairman and CEO of Leadership IQ. Murphy’s successful management techniques have been employed by companies such as Disney, Southwest Airlines, GE and Google. He leads one of the largest leadership studies ever conducted, and his work has appeared in Fortune, Business Week, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times and the Harvard Management Update, among others.
What Great Managers Do Differently is an ideal course for managers at all levels – vice presidents, directors, leaders, supervisors and any leader responsible for the daily management of people.
The agenda for the day includes learning how to build buy-in for change, coach employees for improved performance, manage low performers, speak so that other will listen, avoid the deadly sins of time management, motivate employees to go above and beyond, motivate and inspire middle performers, influence without authority, resolve interpersonal conflict, deliver the perfect performance appraisal, retain the best employees and manage high-conflict personalities.
The cost to attend is $259 per person, or $239 for Shoals Chapter SHRM members. Discounts are applied when two or more or five or more from the same organization register together. The fee includes a continental breakfast, refreshment breaks, lunch, handouts and a certificate of attendance.
