FLORENCE, Ala. – University of North Alabama senior Elizabeth Marie Miller will exhibit her artwork in a collection called “At Risk” Feb. 18-29 in the Student Art Gallery. There will be a gallery reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 18.

Pieces in the collection include acrylic triadic paintings on canvas, an ebony pencil drawing and a Conte crayon drawing.

“My idea in my show is to link all of my paintings which have animals or plant life in their content to global warming,” Miller said.

The Wilson High School graduate began college in 2001 as an elementary education major. She said that Dr. Suzanne Zurinsky, assistant professor of art at UNA, inspired her to become an artist.

“I learned that I had a sensitivity toward art. I could look at a painting and read it and know what the artist was trying to say,” Miller said.

Miller said she uses music while she paints so she can “hear colors.”

She is working toward a degree in secondary education and hopes to teach art when she graduates.
