FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama Department of Communications and Theatre will stage Woody Allen’s “Don’t Drink the Water” at 7:30 p.m. March 13-15 and at 2 p.m. March 16. All performances will be held in Norton Auditorium. General admission tickets are $10 each, or $5 each for UNA students, faculty and staff.
Guest artist Charlton James will direct this modern adaptation of the 1960s classic.
Somewhere behind the iron curtain, an international scandal starts when Walter Hollander, a tourist from New Jersey, is accused of being a spy. He and his family take refuge in the United States Embassy, which is temporarily being run by the ambassador’s son, an individual incapable of such a responsibility. Add to the mix the Hollanders’ attractive daughter, a priest who believes he is a great magician, a crazed chef and an angry mob waiting outside the embassy, and you have a comic classic that brings humor to life as only Allen can do it.
