AINSLEY TO SPEAK AT UNA SPRING COMMENCEMENT MAY 10

FLORENCE, Ala. — P. Steven Ainsley, publisher of the Boston Globe, has been chosen as the speaker for the University of North Alabama’s spring commencement, to be held in Flowers Hall May 10 at 10 a.m.
Ainsley was publisher of The TimesDaily in Florence for nearly seven years, beginning in the late 1980s. Prior to his appointment at the Boston Globe in 2006, he had served as publisher at several other New York Times Company-owned newspapers since 1982.
Ainsley was senior vice president and then president and chief operating officer of the Regional Newspaper Group between 1999 and 2003.
He has served as director of the New England Press Association as well as the Alabama Press Association. He holds degrees from New York University and Emory University.
