UNA STUDENTS RECEIVE 2008 PRCA AWARDS

FLORENCE, Ala. — The Public Relations Council of Alabama recently presented 2008 Student Medallion Awards to several University of North Alabama students at the State Conference in Montgomery.

The Student Medallion Awards are designed to recognize the work of student members of PRCA in the various areas of public relations.

Holly Widick and Rena Purdy received two of the nine medallions that were awarded during the conference based on their work in the Magazines, Tabloids and Newsletters, and also the Potpourri categories.

In the Special or One-Time Public Relations Program category, Brittany Henley received an Award of Excellence. Kara Beth Lawrence, Natalie Finley, Tyler Mills and Jeremy Richey received Certificates of Merit.

Matthew Hodge and Katie Gurley received Certificates of Merit for their work in the Issues Management/Crisis Management-Position Paper category.

In the Writing for Media-Print News Stories category, Jenalane Rowe received an Award of Excellence, and Timothy Lyons received a Certificate of Merit.

In the Magazines, Tabloids and Newsletters category, Natsuki Taguchi received an Award of Excellence as well as a Certificate of Merit. Tyler Mills, Kara Beth Lawrence, Jamie Moorer and Jerry Balentine received Certificates of Merit.

Matthew Hodge received a Certificate of Merit in the Graphic Design-Logos category, and Lucas Thornton received a Certificate of Merit in the Potpourri category.

Holly Widick received an Award of Excellence in the Website Design category.

The PRCA aims to further the professional and networking interests of today’s public relations and communication professionals in private, public and nonprofit businesses and organizations. The organization has more than 500 members in its six chapters statewide.
