UNA Posts Record Spring Undergraduate Enrollment

Jan. 29, 2010

FLORENCE, Ala. – Coming off of a record freshman enrollment last fall, the University of North Alabama is posting the highest undergraduate spring enrollment in its 180-year history. The university has enrolled 5,741 for spring 2010, up from 5,429 a year ago.

Graduate enrollment stands at 1,047, down slightly from last year’s 1,101 graduate students due to tighter admission standards to the university’s MBA program.

Overall, UNA is enrolling 6,788 students this spring, up from last year’s 6,583. UNA’s all-time-high spring enrollment was in 2008, with 7,027.

“These are excellent enrollment numbers for UNA,” said Dr. William G. Cale, president. “They reflect the increasing number of new students looking to UNA for a quality education, and they especially indicate the university’s growing retention rate. Our students remain with us because of the positive educational experience they find and the extracurricular opportunities we provide.”
