Lion Spirit: Purple Reign Week Pep Rally Scheduled for Friday in Downtown Florence

FLORENCE, Ala. – SunTrust Bank and Hampton Inn & Suites are planning for a sea of purple and gold in the SunTrust parking lot this Friday afternoon. The two businesses are sponsoring the University of North Alabama Purple Reign Week pep rally at 4:30 p.m. at SunTrust on S. Court Street in downtown Florence. The event is open to the public.

The pep rally will include the UNA Pride of Dixie Marching Band, cheerleading squad, Leo III and Una, and coaches and players from each of the UNA fall athletic teams. Winners of the Purple Reign Week spirit competition will also be announced at the event.

The spirit competition is for Shoals area businesses that have shown their UNA spirit throughout Purple Reign Week. Businesses are judged on how they’ve shown their spirit through decoration, originality and employee involvement. The competition includes three categories: small businesses (businesses with 15 or fewer employees), large businesses (businesses with 16 or more employees) and government entities.

Winners will receive tickets to Saturday’s UNA football game against Southern Arkansas University plus breakfast next Monday, delivered by members of the UNA fall season coaching staff. The breakfast will be provided by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
