Employers Coming to UNA for Career Carnival in April

Mar. 1, 2011

FLORENCE, Ala. – For the first time at the University of North Alabama, Career Planning and Development is planning a Career Carnival, an informal job fair for students, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair, which will offer information about part- and full-time job opportunities as well as internships, will take place at the UNA Amphitheater, where food, games and career prospects will be the central focus. Students are encouraged to dress casually, bring resumes and learn more about possible professions.

Jennifer Smith, career development coordinator, said Verizon Wireless, Jacob’s Technology, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Becker Professional Education, Waffle House and North Mississippi Medical Center are the confirmed companies that will take part in the fair.

“It’s never too early to start thinking about your future and your career options,” Smith said. “You can come here to learn more about possible majors that we have to offer and what you can do with those majors after graduation.”

Smith said Career Planning and Development hopes to provide a fun and casual atmosphere for UNA students to find jobs that suit their skill sets and interests. She hopes the carnival approach will invite more students to get involved and see what the fair has to offer.
