The Stone Talker: UNA Hosts Tom Hendrix For Fine Arts Festival Luncheon April 17

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama National Alumni Association will host author and storyteller Tom Hendrix at 11:30 a.m. April 17 in the Guillot University Center Loft. The event is part of the 2009 UNA Fine Arts Festival and Writers Series.

The Writers Series is hosting Native American poet and musician Joy Hargo April 16 and 17.

Hendrix, known as the Stone Talker, built the famed Te-lah-nay’s Wall just off the Natchez Trace near Florence. It is an unmortared stone wall that took more than 27 years to build. Hendrix built the wall in honor of his great-great-grandmother, Te-lah-nay, of the Yuchi tribe.

Tickets to the luncheon are $25. All proceeds will benefit the Books-A-Million/T.S. Stribling Endowed Scholarship for the literary arts at UNA. Make reservations by calling the Office of Alumni Relations at 256-765-4201, or go to www.una.edu/alumni and click 2009 Fine Arts Festival.
