Grants

The University of North Alabama participates in both the Federal Pell Grant and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant programs, in addition to the Alabama Student Assistance Program (ASAP).  Some students may qualify for a National SMART Grant (National Science & Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant) or an Academic Competitiveness Grant. General information about these programs is included in the Student Guide, available in paper-print upon request to UNA Student Financial Services or on-line at the US Dept of Education's web site.

For information about the new TEACH Grant (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) for the 2008-2009 school year, please visit www.teachgrant.ed.gov

Application. To be considered for any grant program at UNA, file the FAFSA first.

Grant Amounts.   All FAFSA applicants are automatically considered for all grants and awarded the maximum amount of Pell according to the federal payment schedule.  Standard award amounts for SEOG and ASAP are $300/year for 2007-2008.  Students must be eligible for a Pell Grant in order to receive SEOG or ASAP.  Both SEOG and ASAP are limited funds.
