On-Line Institutional Supplement for
Federal Parent Loan
For Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
The Federal
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) is designed to assist
the parents of dependent students in meeting educational expenses.
There are no income restrictions on eligibility for this loan. The
annual limit is the cost of education minus financial assistance
awarded to the student. Parents who wish to apply for a Federal
PLUS must have their student process a 2007-2008 Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
ELIGIBILITY:
Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United
States and be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at the University
of North Alabama. Students must be enrolled at least half-time (six
hours undergraduate) to be eligible for Federal PLUS.
DISBURSEMENTS: Federal regulations require the Federal PLUS
monies to be disbursed no earlier than ten days before the beginning
of each term of enrollment. Federal PLUS funds will be credited to
student accounts and will be used to clear all outstanding
obligations. When the transfer of the Federal PLUS monies results
in an overpayment of the student’s billing account, the excess funds
will be refunded in accordance with University policies.
SATISFACTORY
ACADEMIC PROGRESS: In order to receive a Federal PLUS, a
student must be making satisfactory academic progress. Students
must achieve and maintain the appropriate GPA for his/her class
level:

and have
passed 75% of attempted hours once they have been enrolled in 24 or
more credit hours at the University of North Alabama. Any student
who has is not eligible for financial aid for failure to maintain
satisfactory academic progress may appeal the decision in writing
through the Office of Student Financial Services. Undergraduate
students cannot receive aid after they have attempted 172 semester
hours of academic work.
