Charlton James

Charlton James has worked as a professional actor in numerous theaters throughout the U.S., including The Shakespeare Theater, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Syracuse Stage, Capitol Theater, Pioneer Memorial Theater, Salt Lake Shakespeare and the Utah Greek Festival. His principle stage roles have included Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Shannon in The Night of the Iguana, The Visitor (Elvis) in Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Sylvius in As You Like It, Paul in A Lesson Before Dying, King Ferdinand in Loves Labours Lost, Eddie in Fool for Love and Lee in True West. On television, Mr. James has also been featured as an actor on The Guiding Light and Touched by an Angel. He started his UNA teaching career as an adjunct professor before accepting a full-time faculty position in 2008. Since arriving at UNA, Mr. James has played Creon in Antigone, multiple roles in Greater Tuna, and has directed Don't Drink the Water, The Diviners, Hamlet, and Master Harold…and the Boys. Mr. James teaches in the areas of stage and camera acting as well as voice, movement and Theatre Appreciation. He holds a BFA in acting from the University of Utah and a MFA in theatre performance from the University of Alabama and is an active member of Alpha Psi Omega
