Myk Watford

Myk Watford was raised in Russellville, Alabama, and is proud to return to UNA Summer Theatre after directing last year’s production of Death of a Salesman. This year Mr. Watford is happy to be on the stage instead of in the director’s chair, and realizing a life-long dream by playing Stanley Kowalski. Furthermore, he is truly excited to work once again with his amazing friends, both those from here in North Alabama and those from NYC and LA.

After graduating from Russellville High School, Mr. Watford attended The University of Utah’s prestigious Actor Training Program under full scholarship. From there he went to The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C., with the inaugural Kenneth H. Washington Scholarship. He spent more than ten years in New York City, where, among others, he met his good friend and renowned writer/director Randal Myler and in the time since, they have worked together on countless productions. A few years ago Mr. Watford moved to LA, and while doing his first play there, was cast opposite the incomparable Elaine Hendrix. Since then the two have continued to work together on several projects. Mr. Watford is also proud and boundlessly inspired by the work of UNA theatre faculty Charlton D. James, who is bringing Broadway-caliber theatre to North Alabama, and is honored to once again share the stage with his long-time friend.
