Web Lion Frequently Asked Questions

Who maintains my department/office website?

Each department/office has a designated ‘Web Lion’. The Web Lion is the main point of contact for your department/office website and is responsible for all content updates and maintenance on your website.

If you do not know who your department/office Web Lion is, search Web Lions here.

If your department/office does not currently have a Web Lion, please check with your department chair or office head to get a designated Web Lion. Once your department/office has chosen a Web Lion, please have them contact the Web Communications team to schedule Cascade Server training.

How do I get an account in Cascade to edit my website?

Training is provided only for officially designated Web Lions and up to 3 backup users per department/office. Before gaining access to Cascade, you must first attend a training course on how to use the CMS. After training, the Web Communications team will set up your account and give you the proper access that will allow you to edit your website.

Can I have access to edit more than one website?

Yes, a department/office will often maintain more than one URL. You should have access to all of the associated URLs at the time your account is created. If this is not the case, please contact the Web Communications team for assistance.

If you feel you should have access to a website, but do not, please contact the Web Communications team with an explanation of why the content of that particular website should fall under the responsibility of your department/office. We will review your request and work with you to assign the proper Web Lion to the site.

Can I get support from the Web Communications team?

Absolutely! While the bulk of responsibility of your department/office website management falls on your Web Lion, we are here to support you in any way that we can. We want your website management with Cascade Server to be as stress free as possible. Anytime something comes up where you’ve got a question, or can’t figure out how to do something in Cascade Server, do not hesitate to call us or email us.

Is there anything I don’t have access to do as Web Lion?

While there are some things you will not be able to do in Cascade, you really do have full control over the content of your own website(s). The things you will not be able to do are generally things that require a bit more technical knowledge or require server permissions outside of your immediate website’s folder.

If you need to create a form, you have that ability as long as emailed results are sufficient enough for you. If you need a bit more of a complex form that requires any database connections or the ability to download a spreadsheet, that form will need to be created by the Web Communications team. It will be created outside of Cascade Server, and will be maintained/supported by the Web Communications team.

If you need to create a new top-level folder (UNA.edu/new-folder), that will have to be set up by the Web Communications team. This new top-level folder will be created inside of Cascade Server and you will automatically have access to edit content in that folder once it has been set up.

If you would like to request a new top-level folder, please contact web@una.edu.
