Become a Writing Consultant
The University Writing Center is looking for a few good writing consultants. You don’t have to be a great writer to be a great consultant, although it certainly helps. Good writing consultants are first and foremost dedicated, responsible students who are curious about language, who like to learn, and who like to help others learn. Below is the ongoing call for writing consultants. A PDF form of this document can be found here.
Now accepting:
• Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate students
• Majors in ANY discipline
• ESL students who fit the above criteria
Qualifications:
• A or B in the UNA Composition I /II sequence, or Composition
I exemption and A or B in Composition II
• Strong sense of academic inquiry
• Strong desire to help others and/or to teach
• Friendly, pleasant, and professional demeanor
Responsibilities:
• Provide writing assistance to students in any discipline and
at any skill or academic level
• Follow and uphold UWC policies and procedures
• Attend and participate in all training and meeting sessions
• Maintain a clean, friendly, relaxed learning environment
• Assist in UWC-related activities (workshops, reviews, etc.) as
required
Payment:
• Minimum wage hourly position

This is a rolling application process. All applications will be kept on file and reviewed as openings become available, generally at the start of each semester. Hires may be made at any time, based on need.
