New Faculty Orientation

Dear New Faculty Member:

Welcome to the University of North Alabama and congratulations on your recent appointment!

Below you will find information on the required New Faculty Orientation that will help to ensure your successful transition.

Designed to promote faculty success, the two-day New Faculty Academic Orientation will:

  1. provide new faculty members with information about policies and procedures that will directly impact your work in and beyond the classroom,
  2. offer opportunities to connect with new colleagues and campus leaders, and
  3. present a preview of the many professional development resources and opportunities available to you throughout the year.

We invite you to register for the event at this link; to help us plan for your orientation, registration by August 05th is requested. The schedule for the 2019 Orientation is as follows:

Thursday, August 15

9:00am – 4:30pm (Includes continental breakfast)

Location: Collier Library 120

Lunch: 12:00 Noon – 1:30pm

GUC Loft

Friday, August 16

8:30am – 12:30pm (Includes continental breakfast)

Location: Stevens Hall 102

Dress is casual each day; attendance is expected.

As you get started, a checklist is provided below for your convenience.

UNA Essentials:

  1. Attend New Faculty Orientation. Register by August 05, 2019
  2. Schedule Directory Pictures. Contact Cindy Brusseau-Hollander at to schedule appointments
  3. Meet with Department Chair
  4. Acquire Computer Access - UNA Portal Access
  5. Obtain UNA Mane Card
  6. Obtain Parking Permit
  7. Campus Map

Check with your department office to see if there are important information and/or documents waiting for you. You should contact your department chair early in the summer for copies of the syllabi of record for each course you are assigned to teach. Ask your department chair or department administrative assistant about computer equipment and keys for your use.

We will offer continued opportunities throughout the academic year for you to meet your colleagues and discuss with them issues and topics related to teaching, scholarship, and service.
