Admission to the Early College Program

Application Deadline for Impending Summer Semester is APRIL 15.
Application Deadline for Impending Fall Semester is APRIL 15.
Application Deadline for Impending Spring Semester is NOVEMBER 15.
UNA Early College applicants with admission credentials received after the deadline will be considered for registration on a case-by-case basis!

Requirements for Admission:

High school juniors and seniors who rank above average in academic achievement and who meet the specified general  aptitude and academic competency requirements as listed below may be granted admission to the Early College Program, upon the written recommendation of their principals or guidance counselors.

General Aptitude:

High school junior and senior applicants must demonstrate general aptitude by obtaining one of the following:

  • A composite score of 18 or higher on the American College Test (ACT).
  • A composite score of 940 or higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

Basic Competencies:

Applicants must demonstrate academic competency by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale) on all unweighted high school work.

Temporary Admission:

High school juniors and seniors who have not taken the ACT or SAT for complete admission into the Early College Program may be granted temporary admission for their first semester in the Early College program. A comparable score on alternative exams as determined by the College of Arts & Sciences may be used for placement purposes only. The appropriate ACT or SAT score must be submitted to the Office of Admissions to obtain complete admissions to the program prior to registering for the next semester.


  • High school “B” average to be eligible for initial enrollment in the UNA Early College program.
  • “C” average on UNA courses for continued participation in the UNA Early College program.
  • Course requirements (specific ACT scores, high school courses, etc.) as listed in this catalog.
  • Students must also meet all course prerequisite requirements.
  • Exceptions must be approved by the chair of the department where the course is housed, the dean of the college, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

Application Process:

  • Complete the online application for admission and submit the $35.00 application fee. Apply Now!

  • Request an official high school transcript to be sent to the Office of Admissions.

  • Send official ACT or SAT scores to the Office of Admissions. Students cannot request a Math or an English class without a sufficient ACT or SAT sub-scores.

  • Go to the Early College main page for instructions on submitting the Early College Approval Form. The Approval Form must be submitted prior to registration for courses.
  • After admission to the UNA Early College Program, complete the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement through your UNA portal account.

UNA Early College students who wish to reenroll after an absence of one or more fall or spring semesters must reapply by submitting the Undergraduate Application and official high school transcript. The $35 application fee is not required for previously enrolled students.
