  Suzi Altman

The University Art Gallery honors Black History Month with a photography exhibition by Suzi Altman, the 2012 Honored Artist of the National Museum of Women in the Arts from Mississippi. Suzi’s work has been featured in many of the world’s most famous publications such as, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and Time Magazine. She is passionate about the power of photography for social change and her work highlights important subjects including civil rights, poverty, women’s issues, and climate change. Suzi has spent over a decade capturing images in the Mississippi Delta recording the cultural heritage, music, and art of the area. Her photographs are rich with cultural history and human empathy—each image represents an important individual or event in black history.

Suzi Altman’s exhibition is on view at the University Gallery through February 27. Please join us for her gallery talk and reception on February 27, at 11 a.m. The University Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Visual Arts Building.
