Mohamad Elmasry is a U.S. born citizen of Egyptian ancestry who has spent the past five years teaching and researching in the Middle East.  He is a political and media analyst, appearing regularly on international television news networks, including CNN, The BBC, and Al-Jazeera English. His research has appeared in refereed publications and focuses on the sociology of news, Arab press systems, Egyptian news production and professionalism, and news coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict.  His work has been published in International Communication Gazette, Journal of Middle East Media, and Journal of Arab and Muslim Media Research. He has held Assistant Professorships at the American University in Cairo and Qatar University.  He was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Denver in 2014 before coming to the University of North Alabama.
