Best practices, policies, and procedures for UNA's digital presence

Content Classification

For governance, workflow, and publication purposes, all content on UNA.edu is classified as either public-facing or internal-facing, based on audience, visibility, and primary use.

1. Public-Facing Content

Public-facing content is published on openly accessible webpages intended for prospective students, families, alumni, partners, media, and the general public. These pages support recruitment, branding, and information discovery and represent the university's most visible digital communications.

Examples of public-facing content include:

Governance Note: Public-facing content is governed by the highest standards for accessibility compliance, brand consistency, and usability due to its strategic importance and regulatory visibility.

2. Internal-Facing Content

Internal-facing content—sometimes referred to within organizations as an intranet—is designed primarily to support current students, faculty, and staff in completing university business and accessing services, policies, and procedures. While some internal-facing pages may remain publicly accessible, their primary function is operational or compliance-based rather than recruitment-focused.

Examples of internal-facing content include:

Standards Note: Internal-facing content is subject to the same accessibility and accuracy standards as all content on UNA.edu but follows governance and presentation guidelines appropriate to its functional, task-oriented purpose.
