Family & Consumer Science Education
The concentration in Family and Consumer Sciences Education offers many opportunities in the middle and high school levels. There are many rewards in the teaching profession. As a FACS teacher, you are able to teach students the importance of understanding and perfecting life skills. These skills enable students to prepare for a responsible life for themselves and their families.
If you are passionate about teaching and about the content area of food, clothing, and shelter and preparing students for a healthier, more independent life, this is the concentration for you. As a content area, students are prepared in all areas of the Human Environmental Sciences at the University of North Alabama. Materials for teaching are accumulated as courses are taken in the concentration. Students have an advisor in the Connie D. McKinney Department of Human Sciences, Hospitality, and Design as well as the College of Education and Human Sciences to assist the student through the two areas of study.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact us. Students are encouraged to call for an appointment to tour the facilities and get more information.
