Graduate Admission Requirements

Requirements for all graduate programs:

  • Graduate Application and $50 application fee*
  • Official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities previously attended

Supplemental Requirements:

College of Arts and Sciences

  • Official GRE or MAT score (Note: GRE score is required for History and Geospatial Science programs.  The GRE or MAT is not required for Professional Studies)
  • Three letters of Recommendation
  • Application Essay
    Additional requirements (by program):
  • English: Writing Sample
  • History: Writing Sample
  • Public History: Writing Sample
  • Family Studies: Resume and Writing Sample

College of Business

College of Education and Human Sciences

  • Official MAT, GRE or Praxis II results (if taking Praxis II, please sent a copy of students results to the Graduate Admissions in addition to requesting official results) (Praxis II accepted only for certificate programs)
  • Traditional Master of Arts in Education: Copy of teaching certificate
  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling: Resume and Three Recommendation for Admission forms
  • Education Specialist: Portfolio       

Anderson College of Nursing

  • Three letters of Recommendation
  • Application Essay

Transient and Unclassified Admission Requirements:

Transient Students

  • Graduate Application and $50 application fee*
  • Transient approval form (from graduate dean or other appropriate official at the parent school)
  • Letter of good standing from parent institution

Non-degree seeking, Unclassified Students

  • Graduate application and $50 application fee*
  • Official transcript from degree granting institution

*Note: Former UNA Graduate students are not required to pay the application fee.
