Message From Department Chair
Office: 117, Floyd Hall
Welcome to the Department of Human Environmental Sciences! We offer specialties in areas that involve the essentials of life. If you would love to work in one of the areas of food, clothing, shelter and family, this is the place to prepare for your career. All of our areas require creativity, people skills, a strong work ethic and a love of working with other people.
Our diverse faculty works closely with students to encourage their best performance and development of skills. All classes are small and are taught by faculty. Class participation and project involvement are encouraged. Opportunities to work with faculty and other students are abundant. Learning takes place in class as well as outside through study tours and university and community service. All activities are planned for student growth and resume building.
The Department is the first to have a location off the main site. Our Culinary Arts program is taught at the East Campus (only minutes away) in a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. When complete, the facility will house a public demonstration area, modern classroom space and computer lab.
Please let me invite you to contact me or any of the other HES faculty members to answer any questions you might have about our program. If you would like, we would love to have you tour the facilities and see first hand the opportunities that you could enjoy in our Department.
