Room Reclaim & Selection

DO YOU WANT TO LIVE ON CAMPUS NEXT YEAR?

IT’S TIME FOR RESIDENCE HALL RECLAIM 18-19!

Beginning March 22nd: Any current resident that wishes to live on campus for the 2018-2019 academic year must come to the Housing & Residence Life office in Rice Hall during business hours and select a room. Your application and contract must be submitted prior to selecting and receiving an assignment. 

Option 1: Room Reclaim - Choose Your Same Room

Who Can Reclaim
  • Available to residents in Hawthorne, Covington, Appleby East & West, Lafayette, and Rivers.
  • Option 1 is NOT available to residents of Mattielou or Olive.
Application & Contract
  • You must complete the residence hall application & contract PRIOR to claiming your room. Complete the Returner Application HERE and submit.
  • Any resident without a completed application and contract will not be allowed to participate in Room Reclaim on Monday, March 19th. 
  • All on-campus residents must select a meal plan for 2018-2019. Current residents may select from Residential or Commuter meal plans. Options are listed in detail in the Residence Hall Application. 
Reserve a Reclaim Appointment
  • You must reserve an appointment time for your room reclaim. The reservation schedule will be available HERE beginning Monday, February 19th at 12pm and ending Friday, March 16th at 12pm. 
  • You are only allowed to choose one appointment time. Duplicates will be voided.
Reclaim Date
  • Come to the Rice Hall Lobby and reclaim your current room between 9am-4pm on Monday, March 19th. 

  • Any unclaimed rooms will be listed as available to other residents at 8am on March 20th. 

Option 2: Room Selection - Choose A Different Room/Hall

Who Can Reclaim
  • Available to residents in Hawthorne, Covington, Appleby East & West, Lafayette, and Rivers wishing to choose a different room and/or hall.
  • Mattielou & Olive residents must choose a new room in an upperclassmen hall if returning to residence halls for 2018-2019. 
Application & Contract
  • You must complete the Returner Application & contract PRIOR to claiming your room. Complete the Returner Application HERE and submit.
  • Any resident without a completed application and contract will not be allowed to participate in Room Selection.
  • All on-campus residents must select a meal plan for 2018-2019. Current residents may select from Residential or Commuter meal plans. Options are listed in detail in the Residence Hall Application. 
Reserve a Room Selection Appointment
  • You must reserve an appointment time for your room reclaim. The reservation schedule will be available HERE beginning Monday, February 19th at 12pm and ending Friday, March 16th at 12pm.
  • You are only allowed to choose one appointment time. Duplicates will be voided. 
Room Selection Dates
  • Come to the Rice Hall Lobby at your chosen appointment time and select your preferred room between 10am-4pm on Tuesday or Wednesday (March 20th-21st). 
  • Tip: Rooms will be available on a first come, first serve basis. We recommend that you take into consideration any roommate/suitemate preferences as you sign up for a selection time so you may come and choose a room together. The earlier you schedule, the better chance you have of securing your preferred room. 
Important Information
  • If you select a room during the reclaim period, you are exempt from paying the $150 application fee.
  • By selecting a room, you are entering a LEGALLY binding contract for the 2018-2019 academic year. The selection process does not allow you to "hold" rooms until you decide otherwise. You will be financially responsible for the term of the contract. 
  • Residence Hall Rates are listed HERE. Please note that they are subject to change for the 2018-2019 academic year. 
  • Double-As-Single rooms are available in limitation. Residents wanting a Single/Double-As-Single (private) room may submit a request during the reclaim period. Requests will be honored dependent upon space and availability. 
  • All on-campus residents must select a meal plan for 2018-2019. Current residents may select from Residential or Commuter meal plans.  
New For Fall 2018
  • Rice Hall will be home to a Global Learning Community this coming year. A limited number of residents may choose to participate in the GLC and serve as a roommate to incoming international students.
