UNA’s interior design program, leading to a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences, has been awarded accreditation by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). The CIDA accreditation signifies the quality of the program and benefits the public in many ways. Parents, students, and employers of graduates from a CIDA accredited program can be assured that the program meets the rigor of peer review and develops the knowledge and skills needed to practice in the industry. UNA is the only interior design program in the state of Alabama accredited by both CIDA and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
Several students in the program were recognized for their achievements by professional organizations receiving honors for their design work. Most notable was first place in the Daisy Bond portfolio competition, second place in the NKBA student design competition, and several others places in commercial, hospitality, and health care category in the ASID, and IIDA state student design competitions.
