Music Audition Application
All students who wish to pursue a major or minor in music must audition for acceptance into the music program. Audition dates are listed below. An audition application should be submitted to the Department of Music and Theatre office no less than two weeks prior to the requested audition date. You will be notified via email when your application is received. Approximately 1 week prior to the audition date you will receive an email with a specific audition time. **Students who will not be pursuing a major or minor in music do not need to submit this application, but should contact the ensemble director(s) to audition for participation in band, chorus, orchestra, or opera/musical theatre.**
- Woodwind, Brass, Strings: one prepared piece, or two brief works of contrasting style; scales/arpeggios; sight reading
- Percussion: one short solo on each - concert snare drum, timpani, and keyboard percussion; three chromatically adjacent major scales; required rudimental etude (Click here for more information.)
- Piano: two or more works of contrasting style; may also require scales/arpeggios; sight reading
- Voice: two contrasting, accompanied selections from the classical, musical theatre, or jazz genres, (one in Italian, German, or French encouraged, but not required); pitch matching; sight reading.
